Get Out of the Boat Series "Head Over Heels" 2 Samuel 6:12-22
Have you ever been in Love?...Head over Heels in Love? Then you know that feeling of not being able to be away from that person. When you love someone so much you can't stop looking into their eyes and you can't stop thinking about them when they're not with you. My wife Angie and I started dating in high school and when I went away to college it liked to kill both of us. We were Head over Heels in love with each other. She made me a tape of her favorite loves songs and I listened to it everyday - I almost wore it out. We wrote to each other everyday and I always dabbed a little calogne on the envelope before I mailed it. Remember those days?
Our love for God ought to have some of those same qualities...we ought to be Head over Heels in love with Him also. Afterall His love for us is passionate, extravagant, unconditional, and beyond our human ability to measure it. A great man of God named William Barclay once wrote, "Love does not stop nicely to calculate the less or more; love does not stop to work out how little it can respectably give. With a kind of divine extravagance, love gives everything it has and never counts the cost. Calculation is never any part of love."
When we first receive Christ into our lives we have that alive, on-top-of-the-world kind of feeling and then it begins to fade over time and tradgically becomes little more than a pleasant memory - BUT Only if we let it. We'll be talking about Worship and our love affair with a God that will never leave us nor forsake us and loves us deeper than the deepest ocean and higher than the highest mountain and wider than the east is from the west! THAT'S BIG, BY THE WAY!!!
Come get out of the Boat of "Same Boring Worship" with us This Sunday! Everything is alive and NEW!!!
Worship will be alive and well @ First General this week and every week! Come Check it out this Sunday - 8:30 or 10:30 AM or 6:00 PM
"If you're looking for God, and you can't quite seem to find Him; Stop what you're doing-worship Him- and He'll come find you!"
